A friend of mine over in Canada has had to say goodbye to his beloved pet dog Daisy. She was old and had been struggling with her legs for some time and was progressively getting worse. It was so brave of him and his family to make the decision to put her to sleep. I’m so glad she isn’t in pain anymore. It doesn’t make it any easier though even when you know you’re doing it for the right reasons. I’m trying to be there for him at the time but it’s stirring up all kinds of thoughts and feelings about Selene. They’re so lucky in a way that they could choose when their pet passes away and they were able to prepare and say goodbye. I still feel like my goodbye was snatched away from me with my Selene. I think this is why I’m finding it so difficult. I wish I could have held her and stroked her before she went to sleep.
